I played quite a few rounds at the DW Field public course in Brockton, Mass.
I met some fun people there.
Old Red was one of my favorites. Red was in his late 60's and had clubs so old they were antiques.
Red hit it straight, and was always the gentleman, and encouraged and applauded your good shots. A pleasure to play with.
One funny habit he had was to wear a golf glove on both hands. The leather grips on his clubs were old and worn.
Red would spit on each hand, then clap them loudly together, to make his grip better! I was odd and a riot. But it worked for him.
I just love these old guys! He is probably in Golfer's Heaven by now.
